Feature: Coach Elle Murphy (Allipha)
You may have seen her face light up your TV screens in 2016 on The Voice AU, or heard her debut single “Mind’s On Fire” on the Triple J Unearthed charts! At Coach, we are lucky to enough to see a different side to Elle Murphy.
Elle is our Head Vocal Coach in Werribee and with her Industry experience, Bachelor of Music and undeniable love for singing, she is the perfect role model and music mentor for all of her students!
Elle, tell us a little bit about your career in the music Industry so far?
My journey really began with The Voice. I was studying music at the time when I was asked to audition, and dove right into the experience. It was very much an overwhelming and surreal experience, and what lit the fire in my belly that is my drive. Before the experience, I was hoping something would show up and happen for me, but from the experience I am now determined to take things into my own hands and make my own opportunities. Since then, I’ve finished my Bachelor of Music, been performing at weddings & corporate events, recording & performing my original music with my band around Melbourne.
Why do you feel like it’s time to teach and share your wisdom with others now?
My mum put me in singing lessons when I was 6 years old, and throughout the years I would see the others in my classes grow and develop beside me. This was always something that got me equally as emotional and excited to come to class as singing itself. Watching people develop & their confidence grow absolutely makes my heart burst and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my days than to have this feeling every day.
What do you think makes a great music teacher?
I think a good music teacher teaches you to sing, but a great singing teacher helps you feel comfortable to express yourself and try new things. It is just as much about building trust between teacher and student as it is about singing.
You're currently working on releasing new music, what can we expect and how can we support you?
I've been to Sydney with my band working with Ocean Alleys producer at Universals studios, and we're super stoked about what we're working on for the rest of the year ready for next years release! Keep an eye out on my ALLIPHA socials & get around the next track in the New Year. For the rest of the year I've got a line up of shows supporting amazing artists that I'm so excited to be sharing a stage with including Samsaruh!
Grab tickets to Samsuruh’s Melbourne show on the 27th of October and catch a groovy set from our girl Allipha.
