"The CMA artist development program is the best thing I've done in my life. Certainly my singing career. "

We predict the name "Georgia Caine" wont be so unfamiliar in a few years time. Just remember we said it here first. Georgia shares her journey with Coach Music Academy, her experience in our Artist Development Program and how it has changed her life...

Tell us a little bit about you and your music career so far?

I started the artist development program with Coach Music Academy at the end of last year and this year it's really taken off. I've been a singer basically my whole life but prior to this experience it was mostly school based. At high school I was thrown into school bands and jazz groups and a few choirs. I was a part of the Australian girls choir for a few years. I also did a lot of musical theatre when I was much younger. I then started singing lessons with a few different teachers and then I found Alisha. I worked with Alisha on technique for a year or two and then we started to write a few songs together in my lessons. That was really where the transition to artist development started, it was a very natural progression.

I feel like I’ve gained so many mentors who know so much about the industry and are so enthusiastic to share their experiences and teach me.

Tell us about the CMA Artist Development Program?

The CMA artist development program is the best thing I've done in my life. Certainly my singing career. It's a program where the academy really takes you under their wing. It's amazing because I feel like I've gained so many mentors who know so much about the industry and are so enthusiastic to share their experiences and teach me. The development program is great because it takes you to that next level that I was really looking for. It takes it from singing lessons which is more about being a singer and developing techniques by scales and covering other people's songs. Whereas the artist development program is all about turning you into an artist. It's really about developing you into an artist from the ground up. Coach has really talked me through the whole process and really explained what you need to do to transform into an artist from social media to your overall aesthetic. This process is basically a tailor made guide to becoming the best artist you can be.

Before Coach I couldn’t finish writing songs.

What are your key learnings from this experience?

I've learnt so much in this experience. I think the most predominant would be the fact that before coach I couldn't finish writing songs. I continuously would start to write songs and get half way through and then I didn't really know how to finish it. So working with Alisha I've been able to learn the process and some techniques so I can finish songs. I've also learnt a lot about self-belief. I've leant that the process of different for everyone and there's no set path in this industry.

What is it like working with Alisha?

Alisha is such an amazing songwriter. She's so accomplished and incredibly talented and she's able to make our sessions feel like we're really a team and we work together whilst teaching me at the same time. She's taught me so much about the process and how to turn mere inspiration into a finished song. She's really helped me to understand that everyone's process is different and the importance of not editing your ideas too much. I think we have a very open and fun vibe to our sessions. She's such a great mentor and friend and it's just really awesome to have someone like her believe in my music so much. I'm really excited for our future projects.
